Jellyfish Dreaming

$850.00

Mixed Media on Canvas
94 × 94cm
Framed

I have always wanted to paint a jellyfish. Partly because of their quiet beauty as they drift through the ocean, but also because my maiden name is Jelley. It felt like a playful and personal connection I couldn't resist exploring on the canvas. Growing up, I loved the classic New Zealand chocolate jellyfish lollies, so this painting carries a touch of nostalgia and joy for me. As I painted the glowing form and flowing tentacles, I imagined this gentle creature floating peacefully through deep ocean blues, moving effortlessly with the currents.
For me, this piece is about embracing the things that make us who we are - our names, memories and small delights from childhood. Like the jellyfish drifting through the sea, sometimes life is about letting the current carry you and enjoying the beauty along the way.
