Stories Found Above & Below the Sea
“Living by the ocean deeply
shapes my practice.
I draw inspiration from the shifting moods of the sea, the contours of the landscape, and nature’s ever-changing rhythm.”
About Me & My Art
I am an emerging abstract artist creating expressive, colour-driven works inspired by the Illawarra coastline. My practice explores connection, emotion, colour and place through layered acrylic and oil painting, mixed media, and intuitive mark-making.
I am living with MS, which has deeply shaped my creative process. My art now functions as both a therapeutic practice and a way of communicating lived experience. Reflecting themes of resilience, flow, and connection to the natural environment.
Living by the ocean deeply shapes my practice. I draw inspiration from the shifting moods of the sea, the contours of the landscape, and nature’s ever-changing rhythm. Painting is both a creative release and a grounding, therapeutic experience. Through colour and form, I aim to evoke connection, joy, and curiosity inviting viewers to step into a story that unfolds across the canvas. Like the inner peace you feel when walking along the beach, watching the waves ebb and flow, the same sense of relief is found when creating my art.
My paintings are layered and playful — often revealing glimpses of people, families, and seaside moments. I work intuitively, guided by joy, connection, and storytelling through vibrant hues and expressive mark-making.
About My Process
I begin by layering paint, collage, and expressive mark-making. I embrace the freedom of movement and the vibrant energy of colour. The comes the most important step. I pause and steps back. allowing the work to speak to me.
In this moment, shapes and figures being to emerge. What do I see? A woman wondering on her own, a couple enjoying a quiet moment together or a family by the sea, together. Whatever it might be, these moments become the heart of the piece and guides my next steps to draw the figures out.
I’m always creating something new so be sure to stay connected via social media to see my latest creation, exhibition or involvement in the arts community.
